Hi! Welcome back! Today I wanted to share my tips for creating a simple yet positive morning routine. This routine can easily be customized to fit in with your lifestyle, but for me it gets me up and going for a busy day as a stay at home Mama!
Here are my tips!
- Start off with a grateful heart. I wake up every morning to my 14 month old smiling at me (and sometimes whacking me in the face), I try to remember how blessed I am to get to spend the day with my babies. Even if that means waking up earlier than I ever have before! I saturate my mind with positive thoughts, and re phrase everything as “I get to” instead of “I have to”. I briefly think of the day ahead and try to focus on something I can look forward to.
- Really great coffee! Or tea, or whatever your morning drink is! I usually make a coffee in my espresso machine, but sometimes I’ll use the french press if I’m wanting an extra decadent cup! I love using a splash of coconut milk creamer too. Another thing I try and do is drink a full glass of water before my coffee, to stay hydrated! The simple pleasure of starting the day out with something I enjoy like coffee, puts me in a great mood. Gimme allll the coffee! 😉
- Make a plan! Some days are busier than others, but I like to make a game plan of sorts in the morning. Even if it’s a simple day at home I like to come up with at least 2-3 goals for the day. A goal can be as simple as painting my nails, or tackling an organization project. I love having a planner for this reason or a cute notebook! Sometimes writing things down can help further visualize and put to action your intentions for the day.
- Keep a cleaning routine. I always make sure to go to bed the night before with a clean home, especially the kitchen! In the morning the dishwasher needs to be unloaded, and the beds made but otherwise I’m working with a clean slate. I find myself overall in a better mood when I stay on top of the housework, so this makes it so much easier in the long run.
- Eat a healthy breakfast! Admittedly, I’m usually not super hungry in the mornings and sometimes just grab a granola bar out of convenience. But once I am more awake for the day, I like to take my time making something both delicious and nutritious! My favorite breakfast lately is scrambled eggs with sauteed peppers, onions, and diced avocado loaded onto a gluten free tortilla. I’m able to keep up with my kids so much better once I’ve eaten something sustainable.
- A little glam goes a long way…Â I try and get ready every single day. Even if it’s a yoga pants day, I atleast do a little minimal makeup and throw on a cute headband! This makes me feel more put together and motivated! Just because I’m a mom doesn’t mean I need to stop putting in a little effort into my appearance each day. Am I always fancy? Nope, not even close! But I atleast feel human. It’s okay to want to feel pretty!
