Hi lovelies! I have been thinking about this subject a lot lately…”Self Care”. I think it can insinuate a lot of different things for different people. But, for me it means taking the time/effort/money to feel pretty and taken care of. As a new mama, I find this is so essential yet not always easy to accomplish…can I still say “new mama” when my baby is almost two?! Haha. I have put some thought into a few tips for any of you ladies who need some fresh inspiration in this area!
- I love getting stuff done. Sometimes I just feel the need to spend the better part of the day cleaning, cooking, organizing, and preparing for the week, weekend, holiday, event etc. But… sometimes it’s ok to put yourself before your “to do” list. Maybe that means taking a bubble bath in the middle of the day when you feel too run down and tired to do anything else! It’s surprising how just a little bit of self care can catapult you into the rest of your day with more energy. I totally believe in taking good care of yourself, so you can be a blessing to your family and friends!
- Splurge a little… I mean you gotta once in awhile. I’m not saying you should splurge on everything all the time obviously, but if that manicure really makes you feel good… then get it! If getting lash extensions makes you feel pretty and gives you more confidence throughout the month…then go for it! Sometimes these seemingly frivolous things are what makes us feel like we are worth that little splurge, and that being a mom doesn’t mean giving up on things that make us feel feminine and put together.
- Self care is to invest in yourself, your own well being, which in the long run is going to make you a beautiful example to your children. I think taking care of yourself (whatever that means for you) truly means loving yourself. I think wearing mom jeans, not caring about your presentation or even health really gives the wrong message to those little eyes watching us. To be a mom does not have to mean losing yourself! As a girl mom, I am especially aware of how I treat my body and the time I spend on myself, because I know it’s the standard my daughter will have throughout her life.
So love yourselves mamas! Do yoga. Paint your nails. Buy that dress that makes you feel like a million bucks! You’re worth it.
Thank for stopping by!
