Happy Wednesday loves! I’m doing something a little bit different for my weekly post… I decided to share a few pictures from my wedding as well as the story behind “us”! I thought it might be fun for those of you who are new to following, or just have never heard about our little story…
We officially met when I was 16, and he was about to turn 18. I actually knew who he was a couple years before he even noticed me! I was a pretty shy homeschooled girl, and we never seemed to cross paths at church. Until one day during a youth conference, when he spotted me working behind the coffee counter. I guess you could say it was a little closer to “love at first sight” for him. He was with his sister at the time, and she always tells the story of how he insisted on finding out who I was the moment he saw me.
But…turns out he was pretty shy too. I remember him hurriedly buying a pack of gum from the coffee counter during that weekend, but he was so quick about it I don’t even think we made eye contact! There was so many kids at that youth conference including lots of people from surrounding cities. Since he had never seen me before he assumed I must be from out of town. While all along I already knew his name, and recognized his entire family from the past couple years of attending Sunday morning services! Haha.
But thanks to Facebook he found me through my best friend’s page (I was in her profile picture, so he actually thought her facebook was mine!)… So like most young teen girls we scoffed at how he added us (both!) on facebook and probably was just adding all the cute church girls. Hehe. Little did I know how long he spent trying to find “me” and figuring out the who/what/where of it all.
Fast forward a bit and we got over the initial shyness (after some thorough and mutual facebook stalking and messaging) and started to talk in real life and could not for the life of us stop chatting or laughing whenever we did see each other. He made it pretty apparent that he was interested in me, and although I was too, I held more reservations. Didn’t’ take long to win me over though! After a season, and finally convincing my parents we started hanging out after church for picnics, hikes, bbq’s-whatever my family was doing. I remember the much anticipated weekly get together, and the phone calls, and messages in between. Classic young love, and a Summer romance that turned into our forever!
We turned out to be inseparable during the last couple years of highschool (and college for him). We spent pretty much all our free time with one another, and dreamt of just getting married and really starting our lives together. For us even through the arguments and occasional head butting, we never doubted what we meant to each other. Sappy, I know!! After two years of dating he proposed to me two days before Valentine’s on a quiet wintery evening. We were in an alleyway downtown walking towards our dessert destination when he popped the question. I was so surprised and caught off guard. I am pretty intuitive about these things, so he really had to pull strings to make sure I didn’t know it was coming! He pulled out the prettiest ring and said “baby, will you marry me?”
And I said yes! Many giggles and watery eyes were to follow. I remember him putting the ring on my finger, then picking me up and swinging me around. Movie quality stuff!
We got married in early September which is coming up on three years already! Since then we have moved twice, started a business, gone on countless adventures, and had our little girl Scarlet Ava!
Our love story in a nutshell. But I am so happy to say it’s not the type of story that ends, it will just keep growing as we do!
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you guy’s enjoyed!
