A few days late, but I am proud of myself for getting these photos done! I was working with winter indoor lighting (we have terrible natural light in our rental), a very active seven month old who likes to roll, twist, grab, and completely ruin the flower arrangement! Haha. Here’s my closer to being a one year old than a newborn, little girl!
She seems so old now! Every day I see more of a little girl and less of a tiny baby. Bittersweet.
New Tricks-
She is still doing the army crawl, really has good upper body strength, just hasn’t quite discovered how to get up on her knees yet. She can get where she wants to go though… I am constantly setting up distractions so she won’t go for the presents under the tree!
She has learned to wave and it is the cutest thing ever! I was pretty surprised because we did not teach her this, she completely picked it up on her own. It’s also different than what I’ve seen most babies do (where they will wave towards themselves) but she actually holds her hand out and rotates her wrist back and forth. She will do it for fun but mostly when someone does it first or says “hi”! She loves clapping and often does that when I ask her if she wants to nurse…Like, good job mommy, you guessed right! Haha.
Growing-
She is such a tall little lady! People often think she is older than she is just because she is so long, and doesn’t have a lot of baby fat. I ordered a new pack of diapers in size 3, she has been size 2 up until now. She fits in the majority of 6-9 months or 6-12 months. Weighing in at 17lbs. and is 27 1/2 inches long. Slowing down on any major growth spurts. She usually eats solids once a day. She is really interested in food but usually doesn’t eat much unless she really likes the flavor. We have tried avocado, spinach and peas blend, carrots beets and applesauce blend, cooked but still soft egg yolk and meat pieces she usually just chews on then spits them out, and a little bit of beans on Mexican food night…haha she loved it… Oh yes and daddy had to give her a taste of lime! So mean.
Sleeping-
Hmm…Well we are trying to correct this part of things! She is doing better with naps now if I keep her on a consistent schedule, which includes winding her down, nursing, and snuggling a little before putting her in her bed. She sometimes will whimper and then fall asleep, we are getting less of the scream crying going on (thank goodness!). I never thought I would let my baby “cry it out” but I think with Scarlet’s personality she needs clear boundaries and routine in order to be a more content baby. At night she does well, besides wanting to nurse…a lot!
Personality-
She is a little ham! I have said it before but it’s proving true. She loves attention, and will do silly things to get it. She roars, giggles, and scrunches up her forehead and furrows her brow when she’s frustrated. Very expressive lil thing. She likes to play games and be goofy with us, she will put things in our mouths and laugh when we “gobble” them. That is my favorite part of her getting older, she really interacts with us and it is so sweet! She is still a little stranger weary, but takes better to some people over others. She loves familiar faces and being with family.
Hope you guys like these little updates. I feel like it’s such a great way to document, and be able to look back at any month and read about what she was doing. It’ll also be a fun reference point for when I have baby #2… (not for a while yet!)
Thanks for stopping by!
